How to create a modern office fit out using this year’s top colour trends

Colour, one of those things that will not only allow you to create that modern office fit out you were hoping for but will also transform and energise your interior spaces.

The colour palette for 2015 is more complex and refined than last year. This is a move towards cooler and softer colours this year where an eclectic and ethereal mix of pastels and natural colours drawn from nature will be at the forefront of modern office fit out design this year. Within both the fashion and architectural worlds designers will look towards the retro, floral and tropical for inspiration great for those warmer months or even just to reminisce about those warmer summer months.

Bold colour and pattern mixing is a great way to boost the mood of any interior space, especially as the winter months slowly move in. To create this in your own office fit out take your cues from the bold colour combinations of the 70s and 80s where colour was explored and used in colourful and playful combinations. Look to the design of the Memphis movement as inspiration. Contrast colour blocks and graphic patterns and pair these with repetitive geometric shapes to balance out the colour play. Try to stay away from the chevron pattern as we see this trend retiring this year; a classic pattern but it has unfortunately been overdone these past few years. Hexagons or hexagonal patterns will be the next thing to take over. When you are looking at the colours to pair we suggest colours such as ember orange and aqua surf in bold geometric shapes on a basic crisp white background.

You can always do no wrong when using neutrals in your office fit out design, however to keep it from looking basic consider a slight twist. Draw your inspiration from nature and the environment and use contrasts of light and dark. Wood tones can be reflected in beiges and browns and would work extremely well when paired with soft gold undertones whilst the darker neutrals will have a greater depth of colour with more intensity. Consider combining these colour combinations with a warmer aubergine tone or even a bright colour for a splash of vibrancy.
